Fall International Undergraduate Student Orientation

Welcome to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! As you prepare for arrival, please review this page and keep the following important dates in mind.

International Student and Scholar Services collaborates with New Student Programs to host international undergraduate students orientation in August. These orientations welcome new undergraduate international students; assists students with acclimation to campus life and culture; and provides students an opportunity to meet other international and domestic students.

Orientation Format & Topics

This orientation will take place in person. During the sessions, we will welcome speakers from across campus to share information about important topics to help you succeed at the university.

Welcome Week

During Welcome Week, all new students will have the opportunity join events that help you get to know your classmates better, introduce you to campus, and teach you about the many resources and opportunities available to you at the university. Campus Housing & Early Move-In

If you choose to move into your housing assignment early, there will be a charge. Moving in early will allow you to get acclimated to your new community and, if living in university residences, you will have a meal plan for those few days. For more information about early move-in, please visit the University Housing website.

Parent & Family Programs

Parents and families can stay connected through the Illini Union Parent and Family Programs Office (PFPO). PFPO sends biweekly e-updates, quarterly newsletters, and online video workshops in addition to providing access to Facebook pages, LinkedIn “Parent Career Network,” and the office’s knowledgeable staff.
