Intercultural Spotlight Series

The Intercultural Spotlight Series is a monthly Global and Intercultural Experiences program that highlights the rich cultural diversity of our global Illinois community. Each session features students, scholars, or registered student organizations who share personal stories, traditions, and insights connected to their home country or cultural heritage.

Designed as an educational and community-building initiative, the series encourages meaningful intercultural dialogue and strengthens global understanding across campus. Attendees may come with little or no prior knowledge of the featured culture, making each Spotlight an open invitation to learn, reflect, and engage in authentic cross-cultural exchange.

Each Intercultural Spotlight typically includes:

• A cultural overview or presentation
• Personal narratives and lived experiences
• Discussion of cultural, historical, or social elements
• Q&A and open conversation

Intercultural Spotlights are offered regularly throughout the academic year, with each session featuring a different country or culture.

Participate in an Intercultural Spotlight

We welcome students, scholars, student organizations, and cultural groups interested in sharing their heritage and lived experiences with the campus community. Spotlights may focus on a country or region, a cultural or ethnic tradition, or a community or heritage group.
